estoy mejor

I don't think I've ever been as happy to come to an end of a week as I was on Friday!
While in the ladies room between classes that day, one of the ladies made the comment:
**TGIF is a restaurant in the States, here it is the truth!!!***
Since our entire class was in the bathroom and the class bell had already rung, I was able to successfully use one of the perifrases when I entered class...."Tenemos que usar el bano"
( : yes, I know it should be stated in the past, but we haven't learned past tense yet :)
~~We take small steps en espanol and are very happy when we are able to do so without falling flat on our faces. ~~
I was very *wisely* told by a student in Bob's class, that since I can only speak in the present tense, I can't worry or be concerned about the past, or what happened last week.
Everything for me is *now* or *current*
I'm sure there's a Biblical principle in that statement ~~~ it just seems like it should have one! If I weren't concentrating so much on my Spanish, I could probably pull it out :)
This week we're doing 'el complemento directo'...and so far, so good. I seem to understand this one, pero debo practicar mas. (Notice the usage of another *perifrase*)
I have a test tomorrow in Fonetica on dipthongs and blends.
I'm also working on memorizing Mateo 11:28-30 en espanol by Thursay morning.
So, please continue to pray!
Hope y'all are having a great week!

  1. mama, david told me about your bad day and we have been praying for you. i remember feeling those same type of frustrations in school, esp. during my 13 months of intensive LPN training. i got dangerously down sometimes, but somehow, God brought me through. i'm glad you're feeling better. i seemed to have misplaced your address there... email me ~ or maybe i could ask john and liz ;)

i like seeing español mixed in with inglés in your post :)

pronto, you'll be able to escribir the whole thing en español.

    y cuando aprendas el tiempo pasado (el pretérito), you'll be able to escribir even más! but this tense no es fácil :{

Ahora, estamos estudiando el complemento directo; entonces vamos a estudiar 'el complemento indirecto'; entonces verbos reflexivos; entonces el pasado del indicativo. ~~and the fun just goes on and on :)

Question--- Estar+gerund is used to indicate "at this moment". Can I use it like I did in the first line to indicate that "at this time in class" but not necessarily (sp? forgetting English spelling) "at this very moment" as it is evening? Or, is that something else that yet awaits for future study?

you used it correctly in my book :) estar + gerund is used for an action in progress, and you are still in the process of studying direct object pronouns, right? it can even be used for future progressive actions, but i don't see it all that much....for example - voy a estar trabajando mucho en noviembre.

and you poor thing....all those pronouns almost all at once! my students would all revolt if i did that to them. i guess you have to continue the speed-learning, though. ¡muy buena suerte!

  6. Natalie, is good to see you found my blog finally. Don't know why it doesn't show up if you click on my name, no se!
Our entrance exams were given by Gaby ---she's over all the teachers..and very funny. She speaks English and Spanish!Gabriela does not speak any English and mainly does Fonetica. Which one did you have?
We've been downtown a few times, mainly just to walk around and on el Dia de Independencia. We've been to all the malls. Couldn't see any purpose to the American Mall...nothing there! I really like the San Pedro Mall, Alyss, Econo, Portico etc. Did they have the Hypermas stores when you were here? Don't know how old the stores are, but they look fairly new. they're owned by Walmart.
Thanks for the tips on CD's. I will take any help I can get. Ana, however, is tremendous. She covers things very thoroughly, speaks English so understands the difficulties in learning a new language. She reminds me so-o-o much of Deanna! ((Which is a very, very good thing!!!) This week we started reflexivos.
We got here the week before orientation near the end of August, and leave the Wednesday before Christmas. So, where are you? Ohio? Guess in the next couple of days I should update my blog!
